A Smile Restoration That is Easy and Minimally Invasive
A Beautiful Smile is Worth a Lot.
Investing in your smile (or Smile Makeover) is a great investment. Not only will flashing a beautiful, confident smile make you feel better about yourself, it’s also the most effective way to make a good first impression on others. Whether you’re looking for your next job, your next gig, your next film role, or finding a life partner, investing in your smile is a great investment.
On the flip side, discolored, blemished, or chipped teeth can be a huge confidence killer. Conventional Dental Implants and prosthodontics are highly effective, but may not be necessary for many seeking minor dental enhancements. That’s where Dental Bonding which is a service provided by Anacapa Dental Art Institute may come into play. Our Dental Bonding treatments are an affordable, minimally invasive alternative to complete tooth replacement procedures.
The term dental bonding is often used interchangeably to refer to two separate bonding procedures:
- Tooth Bonding and
- Veneer Bonding.
Typically, the term “Dental Bonding” is most often applied to the former, Tooth Bonding, while the latter are more commonly referred to as “Dental Veneers” or “Porcelain Veneers.”
Tooth bonding is the process of applying tooth-colored resin to affected teeth to improve overall aesthetics including shape, size, and color. It is an affordable and efficient way to treat everything from chipped teeth to dental discoloration.
Veneer bonding is the process of applying an adhesive material that will chemically bond a synthetic shell, often porcelain, over the surface of affected teeth.
Dental bonding can be a more affordable solution than veneers, though Porcelain Veneers can provide longer lasting results. The advantages of dental bonding are simply that it’s
- Removes the least amount of tooth enamel and
- Doesn’t require the assistance of anesthesia, unless being used to fill cavities.
As Veneers and Crowns are manufactured in a laboratory, Dental Bonding has the added advantage of being done fully in-house at Anacapa Dental Art Institute in Oxnard, Ventura, CA, which makes it the faster choice, most of the time taking only one visit to the Top Prosthodontist in California, Dr. Jivraj.
Though Dental Bonding has a shorter lifespan and can stain more easily than veneers, it is still a great solution when used on smaller cosmetic imperfections in your smile. It is also best for areas of teeth of low bite pressure, like the front teeth. When trying to figure out which procedure works best for you, whether it will be Dental Bonding, Porcelain Veneers or other, your best bet is seek the expertise of the Best Cosmetic Dentist in Ventura, Dr. Jivraj.
Tooth Bonding is an affordable and highly effective treatment for cracked, chipped, fractured, decayed, damaged, discolored, dingy, misshapen or otherwise unattractive teeth. It is a useful tool for addressing a wide variety of common aesthetic concerns. It won’t replace a completely missing tooth, but it will do wonders when it comes to repairing almost everything else.
Very little advanced preparation needed for dental bonding. It’s rare that anesthesia is often not necessary unless the bonding is being used to fill a decayed tooth. Dr. Jivraj will use a shade guide to select a composite resin color that will closely match the color of your tooth.
The Bonding Process:
Next, the surface of the tooth will be roughened slightly for a conditioning liquid to be applied. These two steps help the bonding material adhere to the tooth. The tooth-colored, putty- like resin is then applied to the tooth, molded, and smoothed to the desired shape. Next, an ultraviolet light or laser is then used to harden the material. After the material has hardened, Dr. Jivraj will further shape and trim it. Finally, he will polish and match the sheen of the rest of the tooth surface.
Dental bonding typically takes about 30 to 60 minutes per tooth to complete.
Dental bonding is a procedure in which Dr. Jivraj affixes a tooth-colored resin material to the flawed tooth in order to cosmetically repair it. After it is applied, shaped and smoothed to repair the imperfection, it then is hardened with a special light that activates the resin so it bonds with the tooth. The result is a repaired tooth that looks beautiful and performs like the real thing. Resin can also be color-matched to existing teeth with near perfect parity. First, the dentist applies resin to the affected teeth. The resin is then sculpted to repair the damage at hand. Resin can also be used to fill in gaps, holes, and cracks or sculpted to lengthen short or chipped teeth. Like wet clay in the hands of an artisan, the uncured dental resin is molded, formed, scraped, and sculpted by a Prosthodontist until the desired aesthetic results are achieved.
Each dental bonding procedure will vary somewhat in its application when it comes to shaping, color, and complexity depending on the client’s needs, desires, and circumstances. The goal is to produce beautiful, natural-looking results and to repair tooth damage. To that end, dental resin, a plastic material, is the substance of choice. Utilizing highly flexible and moldable dental resin allows the dentist to sculpt your teeth into the perfect shape and size accurately.
